Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Microsoft infrastructure licensing

CSP (Cloud Solution Provider) is partner-managed with flexible monthly or annual billing and no minimum commitments, ideal for small to mid-sized organizations. MCA-E (Microsoft Customer Agreement - Enterprise) provides direct relationship with Microsoft, volume discounts, and centralized management for larger organizations with 500+ users, but requires minimum commitments and annual true-ups.

Azure Hybrid Benefit allows you to use your existing on-premises Windows Server and SQL Server licenses with Software Assurance to pay a reduced rate on virtual machines in Azure. This can save you up to 40% on Windows Server VMs and up to 80% on SQL Server VMs, significantly reducing your cloud infrastructure costs.

Microsoft has retired the Open License program and is transitioning Enterprise Agreement (EA) customers to the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA). Existing agreements will be honored until their expiration, but renewals will need to move to either CSP or MCA-E. We can help you plan this transition to ensure continuity of your licensing rights and benefits.

We recommend quarterly reviews of your Microsoft licensing to ensure compliance, identify optimization opportunities, and plan for renewals. This cadence allows you to adjust to changing business needs, take advantage of new licensing options, and avoid unexpected true-up costs at renewal time.
